Endodontic dental treatment, commonly known as "root canal therapy," is a procedure performed when the soft tissue area inside the tooth, called pulp, becomes infected or inflamed. The pulp contains blood vessels and nerves within the tooth.
Endodontic dental treatment aims to clean and treat the inner part of a tooth that is affected, typically due to pain or infection. Initially, the dentist removes and opens the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth. Then, the pulp tissue inside the tooth is removed, and the tooth cavity is prepared through specific cleaning and shaping procedures.
After the cleaning process, the inside of the tooth is filled with a sterile material and sealed in a leak-proof manner. This procedure prevents the tooth from re-infection and allows the tooth to maintain its function. In some cases, a crown (cap) may be placed on the tooth after the treatment is completed, enhancing the tooth's durability.
Endodontic dental treatment is typically performed painlessly under local anesthesia and is guided by the dentist. This treatment is applied to prevent tooth extraction and preserve the natural tooth.

Endodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that deals with the treatment of the inner structure of teeth, known as the pulp (which includes the nerve, blood vessels, and connective tissue), and the management of its health.
Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp tissue inside the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This can occur due to conditions such as tooth decay, trauma, or a deep crack in the tooth.
Root canal treatment typically begins with the administration of local anesthesia to numb the surrounding area. The dentist then removes the inflamed or infected pulp tissue from inside the tooth, cleans, shapes, and fills the root canals, and finally seals the tooth with a filling or crown.
